Best Hot Tools for 2023

One of the number one questions my clients have for me is “what tools are you using and should I invest in them too?”

The answer, maybe annoyingly, is “it depends”.

If you’re heat styling 2 days or more per week, then yes, higher quality tools with better (safer) technology are the way to go. No matter how little you are using hot tools ( and yes, your blow dryer counts), even the newest, most groundbreaking items must be paired with heat protection. The hair products we use to protect our hair are equally as important as the styling tools we manipulate texture with!

Heat Protection

Oway has an entire line of products with heat protection built in - which means there’s the perfect fit for each of you! My favorite go-to is Oway Thermal Stress Protectant (lightweight spray, buildable, hold without stiffness or tacky feel) however for smoothing and protecting in one, Oway Glossy Nectar (light to medium serum, adds shine and softness while protecting) is a great option.

The best choice is to use both Glossy Nectar and Thermal Stress Protectant however if you have to choose only one to start…then Glossy Nectar will be the best first product you purchase!

Blow Dryers

Have you owned your blow dryer for more than 5 years?

If you just answered “yes”, it might be time to invest in a new one.

Here are a couple of other questions that will help you decide

:

Does your dryer smell like something is burning/burnt hair?

Have you noticed more breakage lately?

Is your hair crispy?

Answering “yes” to 1 (or more) of the 3 questions above means it’s time to add “new dryer” to your budget!

Flat/Curling Irons

Same questions as above -

no, your hot tools should not smell like burning hair

no, you should not see more breakage

NO, hair is not supposed to be CRISPY

I’ve curated a list of my favorite hot tools (including blow dry brushes) - let me know what you think!
